Oh, Christmas Tree Adventure
There's just something special about a real Christmas tree - the smell, the feeling...
Jesse and I have always gotten a real Christmas tree, but we made a new tradition 2 years ago that required us to chop a tree down ourselves. We wanted an adventure and we found one! We discovered the cutest Christmas tree farm in North Georgia, called, Southern Tree Plantation.
The farm itself is very charming and I love that it's family owned and operated. They have a petting zoo, hay rides, and a barn filled with goodies and crafts. I highly recommend coming here for quality time spent with the family or a significant other. Don't forget to bring your furry companion with you! Our dog was in heaven.
The property itself is huge and they have the trees planted by type. Want to know where the best trees are? Just travel down past the lake, cross the creek and back up the hill. You might get a little dirty, but that is half the fun!
The drive takes about 2 hours from Atlanta, but the scenery is well worth the trip. You'll wind through the Chattahoochee-Oconee national forest, Blood Mountain and back down through the prettiest valleys. There is even a very picturesque waterfall along the way. I'm a sucker for scenic views!
If you are looking for a Christmas tree adventure, consider getting out of the city and cutting one down yourself. Oh, what fun it is! I've linked some other "choose-and-cut" tree farms below. Make sure you call ahead before you go.
