The Power of 3

The Power of 3

The power of 3! I'm sure you've heard this phrase before; decorators, marketers, journalists and musicians all use it. We all use it when we are posting on social media or just taking a picture. Grouped in 3's, phrases, items and looks are just more pleasing to the eye (see what I did there..!).

But...

Have you ever thought about using the power of 3 to help you make a clothing purchase? Yes! I'm here to let you all in on my little shopping secret! The trick is this: next time you go to purchase a top, denim, shoes, necklace etc., ask yourself, "can I style/wear this with at least 3 other items in my closet?" If the answer is yes, then it's a no brainer. If the answer is no, consider putting the item on hold and come back to it later. You don't want to make a rash decision and let buyers remorse hang over you. To make your shopping experience easier, know what you already have in your closet before you go.

I recently found the most amazing Blazer at Rica; the cutest little boutique in La Jolla, California! Jesse and I were wandering the streets and I spotted the blazer in the window - I had to go in and try it on...what harm was I causing? Of course, it fit perfectly and it was my fave color combo (black and white.) I was a little hesitant at first, but I used my own advice and began to think of 3 different ways I could style this blazer. So many options! I knew I couldn't let this saucy number get away.

Using the power of 3 and knowing what I have in my closet has helped me so much on my shopping ventures. It's quite fun to challenge your styling brain. Plus, you'll get so much more out of your closet. So, the next time you go shopping, I challenge you to use the power of 3!

See how I styled my new favorite blazer below. Which look is your favorite? How would you style this blazer? Let me know in the comments section.
